musikprotokoll presents Christina Nemec aka chra at the SOCO Festival in Montevideo.

Christina Nemec, alias “chra”, is a student, author, performer, DJ, label owner, radio and TV-show producer that lives in Vienna, Austria. After a long period of experiments in low frequencies and noise-effects, Chra started to work on club beats. Then, she started playing with sound waves -created through shareware sound effects -processed through tape recorder and analogue and digital tools. She composes most of her music inspired by topics like: landscapes, territories, silence, extraordinary and extreme situations, and challenge. She has composed several pieces of music inspired in many famous different women such as Virginia Woolf, Alice Walker, Phoolan Devi, Miriam Makeba, Wendy Carlos and Delia Derbyshire. Chra has played shows all over Austria, Germany, Slovenia, Norway, and Mexico, and has co-worked in performances with artists such as Lydia Lunch and Mia Zabelka. Actually also forms part of two bands: SV DAMENKRAFT and Thermo-Fill, has done music remixes for Greie Gut Fraktion, Mathias Schaffhäuser and SOS, and is co-founder and co-owner of Vienna based independent label Comfortzone.
